My favorite small town on the Slovenian seaside is absolutely Piran. It is just sad that people who are traveling through Slovenia do not stop in our beautiful spots. Piran is for sure one of the most popular tourist destinations in Slovenia.
The main oval square surrounded by bars, restaurants, museum, was named by Giuseppe Tartini, violinist, and composer. You can find his statue and his birth house on the square. His house is one of the oldest buildings in the square and the house today is a museum.
CHURCH OF ST. GEORGE
All the cobbled streets will lead you to Piran’s cathedral, baptistery and bell tower on the hill. From here is a great view of Tartini square, surrounded buildings, and typical houses.
GET LOST IN THE NARROW STREETS OF PIRAN
LUNCH STOP: FRITOLINI PRI CANTINI
This small kitchen with tables outside on the Prvomajski square was just a perfect stop for lunch. They are specialized in seafood. Enjoy the sun on the square with a glass of wine and good food.
WALKWAY TO FIESA
If you want to walk more around, there is a path that leads to Fiesa, another small coastal town. It is a nice area where you can jump into the sea in the summer.
BEACH AND MARINA
Piran has a beach as well. The walkway by the sea is full of restaurants. And a marina full of yachts, boats and fishing boats.
If you are passionate about history, you can also visit the fort and walls dating back to the 10th century.
Till next time,
