The Island of Ios was the second island we chose in our 8 days vacation in Greece. After SANTORINI, we spend 3 days on the island of Ios. They presented us as party Island.
We departed from Thira (Santorini) with the ferry to Ios port. It takes approximately 1 hour. Then we jump on the bus to our accommodation which was near Mylopotas beach. Greeks are so awesome, they stopped wherever you want ❤ Really, I have just the best memories for Greece!
Just remember we took it really easy! That means the beach, party, relax, eat, and sleep. But here are some spots we visited:
We were staying in the Far Out Hotel & Spa. It is on top of the hill 200 meters away from the beach. You won’t regret the amazing morning view!
This long white beach is probably one of the most visited ones. It is not the best one that we have ever been, but still a good one to enjoy under the umbrellas and on the sunbeds. We enjoyed the sun, the sea, and some good cocktails. Nerby, there are some good restaurants that we have been enjoying a lot. Let me suggest you Italian restaurant Karma, Elpis Bar and Nostos.
The club that is really famous among the locals and the tourists is the Far Out Beach Club that is located at the end of the beach. We just catch the start of the party season, it was quite a lot of people and it the location is perfect.
THE CAPITAL CHORA
The capital Chora lies on the hill with its little cube houses with flat-roofed houses and narrow stone-paved streets between. We enjoyed in a labyrinth of white lines traditionally painted around the large flat stones.
Stopping by the church was probably the highlight because of the panorama view around the island. The church is called the Church of Virgin Mary of the Cliff. The highest point is just behind the church on top.
Behind the beautiful whitewashed windmills is the outdoor amphitheater Odysseas Elytis (a famous Greek poet), where some concerts and plays are performed during summer. It is an open-air theater of the ancient Greek style. and it is made out of marble.
There are more than 5.000 Islands in Greece. A lot of them are full of white and blue houses. But do you know what means that? According to ancient beliefs, this color of blue keeps evil away.
