Romblon is the marble capital of the Philippines and the place best known for sandy BON BON BEACH.
On our journey around the Philippines, we did not have plans. We just went with the flow. I would never imagine traveling like that before because I always wanted to have approximately plans.
HOW TO GET TO ROMBLON?
Our route from Carabao Island via Tablas Island to Romblon. For CARABAO ADVENTURE, CLICK HERE to read more.
First, we took the local boat from Carabao island to Tablas Island and then tricycle on the Tablas Island (from the port Santa Fe to port San Augustin). This was 2 hours squeezed painful driving on the roads where a tricycle can go just 50 km per hour. We missed the ferry in the afternoon to Romblon, but one local guy helped us. They arranged a small boat to take us to Romblon. In the evening for sunset, we reached the final destination.
Romblon is the ideal destination for those who want to enjoy beautiful beaches. One of the places to add to your itinerary. I thought that will be similar to Carabao island, but I was surprised. I would say that is something between Carabao Island and Boracay. It has fine white sand beaches, clear cool waters, swaying trees, and a beautiful sunset.
The most famous beach is BON BON BEACH; sandy beach which leads to Bang-og Island. It was an awesome feeling to enjoy the beach by ourselves. When it is low tide, you can walk to If you are only going to see the sand bar you could use a local tide forecast so you get there when the tide is low and hopefully see the sand bar.
Romblon is known for its marble as well. Marble is the most significant mineral deposit of Romblon and is the most renowned product of the province. Near the port, you will find the Marble Shopping Center with several marble shops. The products here are affordable, carved from high-quality marble. When you are driving around the island, you will see a lot of small local factories.
AROUND THE ISLAND
The port is the center of the island with some European restaurants and bars. Actually, we met a lot of tourists on this island. We had there a hotel and we also rented a scooter for 400 PHP. To go around the island with the scooter, you will spend 2 hours with stops. It offers you a lot of magnificent views, beaches and in the middle of the island mountain views.
Do not get confused! On Romblon Island, it is Bon Bon beach, and a little far away from the island it is one more famous beach. It is called Cresta de Gallo Island, which is situated south of the next Island of Sibuyan.
Next days, we spend on Tablas Island where we have been caught because of the typhoon. In the next blog, more about that.
