Camden town is situated in Northwest London and it is known for its market. I love markets! There are food, people and life. People enjoy and have fun. I visited a market on Sunday and I can say it was busy. People in England work from Monday to Saturday and Sundays are reserved for family; for spending time with friends.
Camden is well known for its markets. Camden Lock Market was my favorite where we had lunch and it is surrounded by more markets: Buck Street market, Stables market, Camden Lock village and indoor market at the Electric Ballroom. The markets are the busiest at weekends. When I was here, I just remember on our Open kitchen in Slovenia. People have fun, talking, laughing and enjoying good food.
You can enjoy different types of food (from burgers, pasta, Thai, Indian, Peruvian, Indonesian, Mexican food to the belgium waffles and simple ice cream). I tried Perivian food for the first time! Just wow, really tasty and different!
To get lost in Camden Town Market you can take time to spend half of the day. Shopping is one of the option what to do here. On the other markets they sell goods of all types, including fashion, lifestyle, books, antiques, …
After the morning market, we went for a walk. The Regent’s Canal is nice and calm pedestrian zone. Because it is just start of the spring, we did not see a lot of boat tours. But it is said the best way to really get a feel of the canal is a boat tour, kayaking, or even dining in a floating Chinese restaurant. Canal connects Camden markets with Primrose hill and ZOO.
Primrose Hill is 65 meters high hill and park- It offers great view of London. But most important, it is a nice area where people relax, walk dogs and have a picnic. From here, it’s possible to see the Shard, the London Eye, BT Tower, and more. It is a nice area surrounded by colorful houses as you can see in Nottingham Hill as well.
One more park on the way back to Camden was a Regent´s park. You can rent a boat or a sup on the lake or walk just around the park on nice arranged paths- You can visit Queen Mary’s Gardens which has more than 12,000 roses in spring time. It is a really nice place, maybe too crowded, to have a picnic or just to rest a little.
HOW TO GET to CAMDEN TOWN ? From the center of London (London Victoria station) take underground –> Blue line – Victoria line to Euston.
With Euston, change the underground. Next, take the Northern line. The second stop is Camden Town 🙂
This area of London is really interesting. This is the proof that London can be more than just typical sightseeing attraction. You can enjoy the areas outside the center of London, especially what I like, are the English parks.
P.S. Next trip that I took, was trip to Stonehenge. More in next POST 😉 Have a nice weekend!
